Selby, UK – Members of the White Eagle Association, paid their respects to their ancestors by visiting Polish graves at the Selby Cemetery last weekend. The visit was organized by the local community leader Angelika Kajda to honour the contribution made by Polish soldiers during WWII.
The group visited the graves of Polish Master Corporal Plutonowy Leonard Hołownia who fought in World War II and who settled in Selby with his wife after the war. They lit candles to pay their respects and remember the sacrifices made by their forefathers.
The Polish community is an integral part of Selby’s cultural fabric, and their contributions to the town’s development and growth are immeasurable.
The visit to the cemetery was not only a respectful tribute to their ancestors, but also a powerful reminder of the strong and unbreakable bond between the Polish community and Selby.
